Why Acrylic
Clearer, lighter, warmer than glass.
Acrylic transmits more light than glass, weighs roughly half as much, and insulates better — which matters when you are holding a stable temperature for an animal that cannot tell you it is cold.

Optical clarity
92% light transmission against glass’s 80–90%, with no green edge tint. You see the animal, not the enclosure.

Half the weight
Acrylic is about 50% lighter than glass at the same thickness, so a full rack shelf stays manageable and shipping costs less.

Holds heat
Meaningfully lower thermal conductivity than glass, so ambient temperature and humidity swing less between checks.

It does not shatter
Many times more impact resistant than glass. A knock off a shelf is a scuff to buff out, not a hazard and an escaped animal.

Cross-ventilated
Vent placement is drilled for airflow across the enclosure rather than straight up through it, so humidity stays even without going stagnant.

Secure by design
Locking or friction-fit closures sized so there is no gap a spiderling can work through. Escape-proofing is the whole job.
Choosing a Size
Match the enclosure to the animal.
The usual rule: floor space around 3× the animal’s leg span for a terrestrial, and height around 3× leg span for an arboreal. Too large is its own problem — a small animal in a big box struggles to find food.
